Beta Blockers and the PM dependent

I'm an A-V Node ablated dude w/pacemaker.  My PM regulates my heart rate to the 84 - 90 range. Is adrenaline gonna effect the rate? Not that I've noticed. The fatigue effects I do notice. Is there more at play here? I also take Lisinopril, an ACE inhibitor whose function I understand. My BP is generally low - 105/62 ...........94/58 at times ----- I'll stop my beta blocker use for a few days to see how I feel. Am I playing with fire?

I don't think adrenaline will affect the heart rate but it sure will affect blood pressure, which may cause "interesting" issues with fight or flight response. It may cause PVCs or other ectopics, unfortunately.

Beta blockers also reduce blood pressure and help some with arrhythmias, so it may not be a good idea to stop them without the knowledge of your EP. Your BP is already low so I would question all those drugs to lower it. At one point did you tilt the blood pressure monitors? Lisinopril is a pretty heavy hitter, here. It worked wonders for my BP, until it got to my joints and muscles.

Dave ASK YOUR DOCTOR !!

You don't give enough info so it is impossible to give you a sensible answer. You don't say why you are taking a beta blocker, you don't say which beta blocker you are taking , you don't say what dosage you are on.

Beta blockers aren't  all the same and they are not only prescribed to reduce BP,  they are also prescibed for arrythmias for angina and for anxiety.

Also you should never abruptly stop taking a beta blocker;  you may get a sudden surge in BP, you could even increase your chances of having a heart attack.   I strongly suggest that you discuss it with your doctor first.

In view of your BP  you may well be right that you could reduce the dosage of one of your drugs but it is normal medical practice to wean people off beta-blockers.

Beta Blocker

Cardiologist has - a few weeks ago - wanted me to take the minimum dose of cardvedilol, 3.25mg 2X daily.  I used to be a 100mg Metoprolol user before.  I started to have PVC's in the middle of the night, and I switched back to Metoprolol and the PVC's disappeared.  I've been told by different cardiologists that one can switch beta blockers almost on a daily basis with no problem.  I'll do the 3.25mg carvedilol beginning today and see what happens.

Thanks, gang
