I wanted to share some interesting news. A few months ago Apple released it's EKG feature on it's series 4 watch. This feature consists of single lead EKG capabilities. Both myself and my electrophysiologist have been amazed with how advanced this technology has been. Since recieveing my ppm I realized this watch can pick up on both atrial and ventricular pacing spikes. It's helped me correlate my symptoms to my new pacer. I was able to figure out I was feeling "deep palpitations" when I was in DDD. I will include the link to my website if you're interested in seeing the Apple EKG strips. Pretty cool!

What does the app say about his EKG? I have a Kardia Mobile that will clearly show my ventricular pacing spikes but the app just says "unclassified". I sent the first trace in to have it read by a cardiac tech (a requirement) and they just said "normal sinus rhythm of unknown origin" (no P-waves). Not a lot of information there. I can see the PVCs and the bigeminy is clearly visible.

The app can only classify the EKG as normal sinus rhythm, A-Fib, or inconclusive. Since I am a nurse I am able to interept the EKG a little more than the average person but it does captures very clear strips, even allows you to download the EKG/email/text to a doctor.

the Kardia Mobile is similar. It emails you a .PDF with the EKG strip, which you can then email to your doctor. I bought one more or less as a toy. It does show my bigeminy pretty clearly but just classifies it as an unknown rhythm or normal. It's single lead can't show flutter, though I understand there is a way of looking at other leads.
Agree kardia and Apple

I’ve used the kardia for over a year and it’s great. It helped diagnose my heart problem. Mine does not show pacer spikes on either device. I have both. I think it depends on where your leads are placed in your heart. Mine is on the septal wall so it mimics more natural. Just a guess for me.

I'm 44, active and have had my device for two years. I love it as I can run again and enjoy working out without feeling like I'm an old man.
Thank you.

Thank you. My husband will be VERY glad to hear that. He does not have a pacemaker (tomorrow is 3 weeks since I received mine) but he has been trying to talk himself into an Apple Watch ever since they announced the EKG feature.
