I’m 10 months out from having my pm implanted. This is my first winter in Canada with my pm and I have noticed an aching around/ in my pacemaker during extremely cold days ( -20 degrees Celsius and below). It’s a dull ache but definitely noticeable. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this with theirs. When the weather warms up the discomfort goes away but returns when temps drops again.

Cold and Hurting,

I have the same problem, cold, severe pain and the aching where the device is when the temperature drops. Husband and doctor did not believe me, of course the doctor always replies with the usual answer if I dare to question him, “it’s not the device”. WELL IT IS THE DEVICE!
There is a thin layer of skin where the device sits under. It has been stretched and not to almost no fat for insulation. It’s like holding a fist size piece of ice in your hand in below freezing weather, no cheating by dropping the ice! Neither one, the doctor or husband could tolerate it for more than a minute. Whimps!

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
Nice to know

Thank you for your post. I thought it was in my head and I didn’t want to bring it up at my check ups.
