Newbie Here!

Hello!

I had my PC implanted 5 days ago. I am a 51 year old female  I went to my doctor last Tuesday thinking I needed a steroid shot to clear my asthma flare up and would up in the ER. I never realized I had a heart problem. I attributed my malaise, chest pressure and shortness of breath to my asthma.

Any way... I felt Sure I would be back at work (HR Specialist) by Monday,  but here it us Tuesday and I'm still not feeling myself.  I have been so emotional and admittedly a little afraid to resume my normal routine. Is this normal??

I am so happy to have found this group and will appreciate any advice.

You're going through shock

I think a lot of your feelings are a result of the surprise of needing a medical device, which is not surprising given that 6 days ago you had no idea of what was to come. You may feel you have failed in some way, and worrying about what you did wrong and what can go wrong next. But the truth is you did nothing wrong. A pacemaker for the heart is a bit like glasses for the eyes for most people - something wasn't working quite right and this is the way to fix it. As with glasses, finding out you need them doesn't generally mean it is because you are going blind :)

So if you need a few more days what is the big deal?  You've joined a group of people growing by about a million a year, and it takes a while to get used to it. And you will. Welcome to the club!

You know you're wired when...

You always have something close to your heart.
