My family and I have always been fans of amusement parks, I recently had my firstpacemaker but in. Ive heard rollar coasters are now off limits to me. Is this true, and are there any other types of rides ill have to avoid?

Thanks for asking this question (and the answers). Got my PM in May and we are going to Universal Orlando next weekend and I was just wondering the same thing!
I guess now I might have an excuse not to ride the big ones with the kids...
Universal

At Universal, I stay off Hulk. I ride most of the others, and the ones I don't it's because I don't like them not because I don't think I should/could. I am a Girl Scout leader and have chaperoned more school and band trips than I can count, I am not above blaming the pacer on something I don't want to do lol, easiest way to get the kids off my case.
You'll find that most everything more vigorous than a merry-go-round has a cardiac warning. Don't ask in the park what's safe!!!! If they know you have a device, they will block you from a lot of the rides. I know someone who did that, big mistake. Mainly look for signs of magnetic brakes and straps that sit right on the pacer.
Thank you

I was told by my doctor that I shouldn't ride any rollercosters when I mentioned that I had a holiday to Florida booked. I've had my pacemaker for 3 years but I felt he was just issuing a ' what it says on the packet' warning. I'm a 47 year old mum of 3 who has always enjoyed rollercosters and was devastated at the thought of holding everyone's belongings as they all rode the rides. I would like to say a big 'thank you' to Tracey_E. I found her posts and they allowed me to make an informed decision to join my family on all the rides.. I followed Tracey's advise and sat out the Hulk and rip it ride it at universal as they also had metal detectors to pass through. So a big big thank you and we had a fantastic 2 weeks in Florida
You know you're wired when...
You run like the bionic man.

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.
roller coasters

Some doctors are more conservative than others but my doctor is ok with it. I avoid the ones with magnetic brakes, usually those are the newer ones with the very fast start/stop. I would wait at least 6 months to a year with new leads, but other than that go do what you want and have fun.
If you use rate response, a bumpy one like the old wooden coasters may make your rate go up. Weird feeling, but harmless.
