Alcohol

When I was diagnosed with heart failure I cut back to a couple beers twice a week. Now that I have stents and the anti platelette meds that go along with it, a 5 ounce wine weekly is all I adventure to try. I believe alcohol in more quantity will make a troubled heart struggle more, and could lead a fellow over the thresh hold to a very scary event. Alcohol, like sky diving, is not for the faint of heart. I am hoping to avoid a defibrillator.
I gave up

I was off alcohol for about a month before being admitted to the hospital. I didn't know I was going into hospital at that time. Since coming out I have decided not to drink any.
I tried one bottle of Becks Blue tonight. It is alcohol-free at only 39 calories per bottle. I don't think even these I would drink a lot of mind.
Definately changed!

I used to be a single malt scotch kind of guy a couple times a week with a beer or three to wash it down. Once my issues started the scotch went to an occassional holiday thing and beer down to 2 or 3 twice a week. Since then, no more hard liquor at all, an occassional beer or glass of wine is about it. My heart tells me what it wants, or doesn't. If I have more than 2 beers I feel like the worst hang over ever. I miss it and my mouth waters when I see friends enjoying or smell a good scotch but I know if I have one I'm taking my life in my own hands.

Well, I was 5 when I was diagnosed so yeah I've changed a bit lol. Seriously, tho, my ep said a glass of wine a day is a good thing for the heart. My gp said my triglycerides are too high so limit to 2-3 glasses a week. Ask ten doctors, get ten answers. I eat well and exercise hard, and I drink what I want. (sipping a glass of wine as I type this)
bottle of wine.....

(Couple times a week, I'll have 2-3 oz. cabernet.) Every day with the dinner meal, I'll have either a bottle of St. Pauli Girl NA or Beck's NA or a Buckler NA (brewed by Heineken). In the past, I've poured either of the three brews into a glass for friends who enjoyed them. Afterward, I would announce: "Guess what? You just guzzled a couple Non- Alcholic St. Pauli Girls! (or Beck's)." They couldn't distinguish between the NA's and the alcohol laden brews!
You know you're wired when...
You can hear your heartbeat in your cell phone.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
Yes

I've had no alcohol since I was diagnosed with AFib but that was long before I needed a pacemaker.
