Traveling

When I had my Boston Scientific Pacemaker implanted 11months ago I was told that I need not take the home monitor with me for a trip of under 3 weeks.  What has been the experience of members?  I would love to leave it home because I do no want to add weight to my carryon luggage.  I will be traveling for 10 days.  I am leaving tomorrow do I would appreciate advice soon!  Thank you!

Thanks so much, Robin1.  I appreciate your comment and I wish you well on your new nasty med.

The tech who gave me the instructions for my pacemaker told me to not bother taking it on any trips.  He said that any hospital and even EMTs or firehouses would have equipment to do an interrogation if it were needed.  Think of the monitor as a convenience. It allows us to connect from our homes but it's not an anchor.

There are millions of people around the world with pacemakers.  Only a tiny minority have home monitors .   I have never had a home monitor, have never been offered one ,  definitely don't want one and yes, I happily travel without one.

Try totally forgetting that you have a pacemaker for 10 days

I'm sure you will enjoy your travels even more WITHOUT your monitor

Thank you so much for the great advice.  My inclination was to leave the home monitor at home but since I am new to this technology I wanted to see what others said.  Your voices are clear!  My carry on will be lighter. Thanks again.

By by the way this is the first time I have used this forum and couldn’t be more pleased with the help and clear responses.

Leave it home

I have one, and it stays home. I do travel with an Apple Watch which gives me a sense of security. I have traveled around the world since getting my pacemaker. I do have the card from Boston Science in multiple languages which tells about my pacemaker for airport security. Try traveling with a Zoll Vest, now that was a nightmare.

Thanks, Silver Star.  I am here in British Columbia and the home monitor is home! I appreciate  the helpful comments everyone.
