ID card needed at airport

I just returned from Morocco and I had to show my Medtronic ICD card at the Casablanca airport.  The EP office called Medtronic (they offered as they said they have a direct line) before my trip and they told me not to go through the magnetic scanner.  I was surprised to have had to show the card, as I have travelled extensively around the world and this was the first time.  I showed them the card and they did not even use a hand scanner--a quick patdown around pant pockets and I was on my way!  The xray scanner was not operating.
