Five weeks in

That five weeks since the implant has flown by.  The day the ambulance took me to A&E, I had blacked out three times in 50 minutes, I was only sitting on my settee listening to the radio, but my ticker bit me!  I had blacked out on a number of occasions in the previous three months.

There I was, just having been admitted and a young lady doctor knelt by my bed and said, "We have something to discuss." "Oh", exclaimed I. "What are your feelings on resuscitation?" I asked if I was in the category of Sudden Death Syndrome and she said I am. Bit of a shocker that!

That was Friday.  A few days later on the ward I had a holter on and blacked out on their very hard floor. Cardio doc came round and shewed me the traces and where I had flat-lined for 11 seconds.  So my pacemaker was fitted on March 22nd.

I had reason to go back and have the gadget checked, since then my pulse will rise above 60bpm so it's a little more comfortable.  The site was uncomfortable for a long time and still lets me know it's hiding under my skin. It can't be bad though because I can lay on my left side comfortably in bed now.

So, by way of introducing myself, that's my story so far.

Sounds like your mental attitude is doing well.

Better to be looking down at the flowers than up.

Hang in there.

You know you're wired when...

Your life has spark.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
