US Military (Air Force)

I have been in the miltary for 2 years now and it was just discovered that I have a heart block. I have a  2nd degree AV block Mobitz 1 and an abnormal heart beat.  Will I get medically discharged for this?

...you will.  That has been the experience of all who have reported here on their experiences.  That includes an Army E-9 w/i 2 yrs of mandatory retirement, a Marine E-5 and a Coast Guard unspecified E type.  It also has included several who wished to enlist - all were denied entry.

To give you the whole story, I retired in 1987 (Before I got my PM) and I know of ONE man who was allowed to serve while hosting a PM.  He was a colonel in an extremely short MOS (AFSC to you AF types)  and was within a few years of retirement.  There were probably only a half dozen of his MOS in the Army and he could be stabilized in CONUS till he retired.

Times be a changin...I'm seeing and hearing about more personnel with medical issues who're allowed to stay in. Likely much depends on your MOS and risks associated with your ailment but don't give up hope. Talk to your commander and get a feel.

Good luck
