Could someone explain to me why swallowing something which is NATURALLY occurring should be any safer and less likely to cause side effects than a synthetically produced substance which is subject to rigorous laboratory testing and extensive clinical trials ?
A few facts to consider before swallowing things NATURAL :_
- Apricot stones contain cyanide, NATURALLY occurring but deadly poisonous !
- Many mushrooms and toadstools will kill you very quickly but they are NATURAL
- Aspirin ( salicylic acid ) is derived from willow bark. Take too much of it and you will die from internal bleeding but you will die NATURALLY
- Penicillin is NATURALLY occurring in various moulds. If you are allergic to it you can get anaphylactic shock and die
- Ecstasy ( with all it's dangers ) is derived from an oil which comes from the roots and bark of the sassafras tree ... NATURALLY occurring and highly dangerous in the wrong dosages
I could give countless other examples...NATURAL DOES NOT MEAN SAFE
I would feel far safer taking ANY prescription drug than I would eating the contents of any flower bed !! I know which would give me the worst side-effects and it wouldn't be the drugs.
