Hi fellow pacers. I am 8 weeks in with new St. Jude tri-lead pacer only, 62 years old, very active and a good rule follower so have following all restrictions and guidelines. Over the last 48 hours I have felt a tightness and under the skin "pulling" discomfort. Not pain perse but obvious discomfort. I haven't done anything outside of the ordinary that I'm aware of. When do growing pains go away and does this sound familiar to any of my fellows? Grateful for any input.

I feel this too...

Hi Gulley,
Im 6wks in with my 1st ICD Pacemaker (Boston Scientific dual lead). I'm starting to feel the skin becoming tighter across my device but the scar site looks very neat, clean and healing well. I've just started to use the tiniest drop of Bio Oil on it first thing in the morning and last thing in night which really helps that tightness feeling (and is great to use long term to help the scar heal with minimal redness and Keloid formation).
I too, am making sure I'm still not lifting anything heavy and am avoiding stretching my arms above my head or behind my back. However, I'm making a conscious effort to do light stretches to keep my rotator cuff supple and prevent my shoulder from locking up. I used to have good muscle tone before being in hospital for 7weeks and was amazed how quickly I lost it from being bed bound. I'm quite nervous of getting as active as a was before again and will hopefully be starting cardio rehab in the New Year to get my confidence, as well as my strength, back again.
After my C-Sections, over 11yrs ago, I still have numbness but also experience tightness and twinges in the scar area. I've been told it's down to how the nerves can behave in the area too, so it may also be that that you're feeling?
Maybe check in with your team or GP as to when you can start getting back to full fitness again, ask about using Bio Oil and remember it is still early days. All the best,
Zoë

Thanks all for your responses. The tingling and twinges are "normal" after speaking with my PCP as well. Good luck to all.

I had my St Jude placed on 8/17/17. I swim, golf and workout with weights. Sometimes I notice it on the backswing during a golf round. Also sleeping on my left pacemaker side bothered me for a while but not now. I was worried pulled ups might dislodge the electrodes but the doc said that was not possible and it was confirmed on the posts I've seen.
Good luck, Adrian

Thank you Adrian....your response was great as I too am active and had the same concerns. The sleeping on my left particularly. Thanks for your input. Swimming? I thought WE were told that was not a good option for us? I love to swim due to the extra strength our bodies need to propel. Not true? good to know!
