Chest pain post inplant

My PM inplanted 10/6/17. I had some chest pain before the inplant, but they were 10 times worst after the inplant. Have been seeking solution for about a year. Experience chest pain (sometimes a tightness) when walking/exercising. I stop walking for a minute or two and the pain goes away. I walk another 100 yards and the pain returns. I don't have blockages. Started taking Nortriptyline as a treatment for nerves. It seemed to help for some weeks, but the pain has returned. The mystery continues.

Electrical problem leading to plumbing symptoms ?

I hope you find a solution to your mystery !

As you know , chest pains are usually associated with reduced blood flow to the heart muscle  i.e it is a plumbing rather than an electrical problem so it is very strange that a  PM should worsen the chest pain.

It is possible that it is sheer coincidence that your chest pain problems have worsened since getting a PM

It is probably of no help but I play tennis with a good friend who , like yourself, doesn't have blocked arteries yet occasionally gets classic chest pain / angina symptoms on exertion.

After lots of tests they found that his coronary arteries occasionally go into spasm which causes temporary narrowing and chest pain . He was prescribed drugs ( I think calcium blockers  )  which have solved the problem . In fact his problem has been solved so well that he is beating me at tennis again..dammit !

It is probably totally irrelevant to your situation but who knows. There is nothing to be lost by asking  your Drs if this could be your problem ; I would also ask if there is any way that a PM could trigger off coronary arterial spasms ??

Best of luck

Ian

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
