No energy

Hello my friends, I am 9 weeks post op of having a crt-d implanted. At 6 weeks I went to my cardiologist and explained I have no energy. He reviewed my meds and decided I needed stronger meds. He got rid of all my former meds and put me on entresto 24/26 mg and metroprolol 150 mg. He said I would feel worse before I would feel better. Boy, was he right. All I want to do is lay around or sleep. Feel horrible. My pm is set at 60, from day one. He said he wanted my heart rate to be at 60 and it is in the 60's most of the day. Has anyone been in my situation? 9 weeks and feel terrible. I still can't work and can't do any housework. I am starting to get real depressed and worried. Please give me some guidance . I see my cardiologist tomorrow and I can't wait. Thank you..❤️

II dont know why you have a crt-d but  I am guessing heart block? Metroprolol!I am on this now as I have developed Afib( oh joy!)I am only on 50.m a day.You are on a high dose. No wonder you are tired. It does get better, but I am about 8 weeks and i dont feel better either.I dont know what Entresto does. I am sorry.. But talk to your Cardio tomorrow and tell him all your concerns!Write them down.I am going back to my Dr on friday as I am having bad stomach stuff from the Pradaxa they put me on for the "new afib" We have to take control. I know,I get depressed, thinking I will never be  the same again,,right,we will be better!!!Lots of people on here have so much more knowledge and I know they will come talk to you. For now, hold your head up, you are a victor!!! ( not a victem) Say this to yourself!!! Hugs for you!!! I take my beta blocker twice daily- 75mg at 9:00a. m. and 9:00p.m. Metoprolol is my beta blocker. Entresto is suppose to be for heart failure. Both have the side effect of tiredness. But, at what point does your body get use to it? I wish I understood why and when the adjust the pm or meds. I feel totally confused. It seems that my beta blocker is heavy duty in power. Is this necessary? So many questions and so few answers. I need to know where do I start looking on the internet or what site to address my concerns to my cardiologist. I don't know where to start!

Meds

It's most likely the meds.  I just had my beta blocker dosage increased again and I am so nauseous and tired.

I never nap unless I am really sick with the flu but I have been napping for 2 hours a day since the med change and still am able to sleep at night, unheard of for me.  When it was reduced a few months ago, it took over 3 weeks to get energy back.

Good luck at your appointment today.

No energy

Went to my cardiologist again today and explained how I have gotten worse regarding my endurance. He informed me that when your heart is weak, your energy level is reduced. So, he increased my dosage of my meds to keep me napping more to allow my heart to rebuild. It is a journey. I finally realized my heart condition is very serious and I need to accept that I will never be the woman I was a year ago. I need to allow the meds to do their job and build my heart by resting a lot more. I will be out of work at least 4 additional months. So, with that being said, I think we all need to listen to our doctors and bodies and accept that we can't always do what we want to do.

hi there

Debbie,

I too have a CRT-P and they doubled my beta blocker after an episode of Vtach.

I turned into Rip Van Winkle, my dog was annoyed, the cat was waiing and the house was a disaster.

After sleeping all night, I would get up and dressed, see to the pets and then crash on the couch for hours.  Insomnia cured!!

I left a message with the cardiologist that this just wasnt working out but he called back quickly, told me to persevere, that my body would adjust over time and whats a couple of weeks of sleeping matter in the grand scheme of things.  He told me theyd review everything in 4 or 5 months and to rest a lot.

At that point, I signed onto Netflix and binge watched tv or slept through depending on the day.

Suddenly, at about the three month mark, I was more wakeful, the dog got more walkies, the cat got his cuddles and life slowly resumed.

That was in Jan/Feb of this year.  I have just signed on for Cardiac Rehab to see if I can get some stamina/strength back, cause sleeping a lot weakens your muscles.  I did much better on their assessment test than I ever thought possible.

I feel a hundred times better than I did six months ago and my EF has improved a lot.

Your doctor is correct, when you are in a bit of heart failure, you need to lower your standards a bit but stay well rested.  Try to enjoy the new you and you will pick up soon.

Even hale and hearty people arent what they were 25 or 30 years ago, its just life.

All the best.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
