Different Medications

There are numerous anticoagulent medications. My doctor wanted to prescribe warfarin and I objected since that medication requires frequent blood tests to monitor the effect of that drug. I am taking Eliquis, and frequent blood tests are not required. I tolerate it well and it is highly advisable to take an anticoagulant to lessen the potential that AFIB has to cause strokes. You might talk to your doctor about the feasibility of switching to Eliquis. I have no side effects from that medication other than easily bruising and bleeding a little more when I have a cut.

Pradaxa

Anytime you start new medicines you go through an adjustment period, both mentally and physically, and it takes some time to get used to it. Pradaxa and Metoprolol have side effects. Pradaxa has gastrointestinal side effects including stomach upset and diarrhea, plus a risk of bleeding. Metoprolol, causes fatigue, lightheadeness, slow pulse, low blood pressure. Eventually your body will gradually adjust to the side effects and they won't bother you too much. Regarding Pradaxa, you have to be extremelly careful not be in an accident with potential physical injuries. Be careful when you handle knives, replace your razor blade for an electric shaver. Millions of patients in the world use the same drugs. The medicines seem to be a nuisance now, but they will help you a lot. The Pradaxa will protect you from having a stroke from the atrial fibrillation and the Metoprolol may take away the arrhythmia. Cheer up.
