Hi everyone,
I had a cardiac arrest in april and an icd fitted in july this year. Am still abit scared because my cardiologist has not given the go ahead on any exercise execpt walking.
I feel strong enough to go on a treadmill but my cardiologist said no, i have also tried to convince him that i need a stress test, he said i should wait for a follow up appt. I saw the letter today and my follow up appointment is may 2018.
Was upset and book appointment to see my Gp, gp said if the cardiologist has not approve any exercise its for a reason, i should just go walking, it's hard for me to go walking with two young kids and would prefer the treadmill and other exercise
Scared of aggrivating things, by exercise when i am not given the go ahead. As a young mum, i don't want anything to happen to me, when i am alone with my babies 6 months and 3 years old.
Getting frustrated with this recovery, that seems endless, i just want to get myself back. I have tried to deal with it, it's so hard and it's ruining my days thinking about the interferances , fluttering and so on.
Please, i will like to hear others experience and advice before i go crazy
Thanks,
Helen.

I have tried different strategies, non seems to be working at the moment.will give the double stroller a trial.
Thanks once again

You know you're wired when...
You have a shocking personality.

I'm 44, active and have had my device for two years. I love it as I can run again and enjoy working out without feeling like I'm an old man.
Feel for you

Unless my calendar is wrong, this is only the middle of August. I'm sure it feels like forever but at most you've had six weeks recovery. Six weeks is about the usual time to begin to ease back into our normal exercise routine.
I must say, at first glance I don't see the medical difference between walking and walking on a treadmill. (Trust me, I see the difference between treadmill exercise and a walk with a three-year-old.) I understand why learning you must wait until May for your doctor's permission would make you want to tear you hair out.
Your doctor might be just acting out of an abundance of caution, but to make informed decision about what to do, you need to understand what dangers the treadmill holds that walking doesn't. Maybe someone here knows.
Failing that, one option might be having someone watch your kids while you get out of the house for a nice relaxing walk. We're only talking about a half hour or so. Or a double stroller that would let you take them with you. But that assumes you have a good area in which to walk...
Anyway, you're not alone. Lots of us know how you feel. I'm sure there is a solution.
And in the meantime, frustrated as you feel, you know you have done what you needed to in order to be there for your babies. That's something.
