Hi all
I am on holiday in Europe and I have developed a new problem which is probably nothing to worry about but I am concerned. I had a dual lead pacemaker inserted six months ago. Just before I came away for 5 weeks I saw the pacer technician and the cardiologist because of shortness of breath and bilateral neck aches on exertion. My angiogram was fine 3 months ago but the cardiologist wants to do an exercise stress test when I return ( he is on holiday too).
The new problem is an intermittent pain (but increasing episodes ) in the left side of my neck deep inside, below my jaw in the carotid artery region 4 inches higher than, and to the right of my pacemaker. Not brought on by activity. My pacemaker settings were 80 on activity with up to 92 10% of the time. They were changed to rate response and only went up to 100 when I went for a fast test walk and climbed two flights of stairs. (Active 77 year old ) For my holiday the cardiologist recommended they revert to my former setting which I was used to.
So that's it. I would be grateful as ever for any advice -has anyone had a similar experience?
If I go to the Dr here it could lead to unnecessary investigations. Should I return home earlier? 😞

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
