Hey all
I'm a fit, healthy, 56 year young male and love exercise. A couple of days ago my wife and I completed a 30km charity walk with relative ease. I have a 2-lead StJude PM treating occasional bradycardia caused by a Mobitz Type 2 heart block.
My first PM anniversary is about to come up. I recall having had a difficult to describe feeling of anxiety or a sense of having a rock in my chest after the implant, but I persevered with exercise and only recently, perhaps 9 months after surgery, mentioned to my wife how great I was feeling and had no sense of a PM whatsoever. Now all of that original feeling is back.
I first noticed this after a high stress event, caused by one of my employees a couple of weeks ago. I wear a Garmin Fenix 3, which records instant and resting heart rate. Pre PM RHR were in the 50ies, post PM RHR were around 70 and more recently mostly 58. Now I'm back up to 70.
I'm going to have my cardio doctor check me out ASAP but I was wondering if anyone had noticeable changes after stresss events?

Yes he did tell me that and I'm hoping it doesn't happen but there you go. So far I've been paced at 4-11%.
I'll keep you posted for sure. We have to stick together and I find it pretty hard to get much info that's relevant.
Does anyone know what actually causes the Mobitz 2?

Hi Mark.
Stress can certainly wreak havoc on our systems. When I first read your description, it sounded like an anxiety attack but as I kept reading, I began to wonder if you're suddenly pacing a lot more. I am about your age (but female) and have the same diagnosis. Did your doc mention that it's fairly common to develop Complete Heartblock after a Mobitz Type 2 diagnosis? My cardiologist told me that and, sure enough, by the end of that first year, I was pacing virtually 100% in both chambers.
Keep us posted. I'm curious what your EP or regular cardiologisst tells you.
All the best.
