MyCareLink Patient Monitor

I've got a MyCareLink Patient Monitor to upload my pacemaker data. Can someone tell me what kind of data it stores and forwards?

I'm wondering if I have an unusual episode if I can just go through the upload process and there will be a record for my doctor to see.

I've had it less than a year and I've only used it to upload when notified. Also, anyone know if I'll be billed for each upload?

Thanks!

I don't get charged from Medtronic---I guess paid enough initially for the device.

My EP charges a flat fee quarterly, no matter how many downloads.

The EP individualizes what he wants to see and how often.  I would ask your EP the specifics.

For me it's a sort of life line.  If I feel lousey, I have no reservation to call the office and ask to send a transmission.

They usually get back to me withing 10 to 15 minutes.

To be truthful, I'm not exactly sure what it records, but the more the better.  The nurse said it does watch out for significant events, the ones that would be of concern, but not every detail.

As an example it would only record a PVC "Premature Ventricular Contraction" if it occured 4 times in row,

About billing, so far (I think I've used it 4 or 5 times in the past 2 months) there hasn't been a bill.  I do get billed $150 for each time I see the physiologist, I thankful to have good insurance so my copay is $30.00.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. I'm amazed at how little education is provided the patient when they are given the monitor. You'd think they would at least be given a Q&A or fact sheet. In my case, the box was left on my tray in the recovery room when the pacemaker was implanted, and no one in the recovery room knew what it was or how it got there!

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
