Welding

My cardio told me absolutely no welding or even being near active welding. Also in my booklet that came with my Biotroniks pacemaker, it says don't weld or get near someone else welding...

ARC welding is not ok. Other welding is safe. If you do a search (icon is in the upper right corner) this comes up all the time and other members have safely welded.

It depends.  If you are dependent upon your pacemaker to keep your heart beating then you don't want to be anywhere near electric welding or plasma cutting.  The electrical fields generated around these can make the pacemaker think the heart's sinus node has generated an electrical impulse to the heart when it hasn't.  That means that the heart won't beat and you can be in trouble.

If you are not 100% dependent upon the pacemaker to keep your heart beating then careful welding will likely be alright.  Just keep the electrode and ground on the far side of your body and watch how you feel.

Please bare in mind that I'm just repeating the guidance I've  been given on the subject.  You need to clear welding with your doctor and the pacemaker manufacturer's tech support department.

Don't do it. Arc welding like all other forms except the old gas type welding use very strong electrical currents that create their own magnetic fields. None of them are safe.
