For those of you that are able to feel being paced, what does it feel like for you? Mine feels like taps inside my heart. Very strongly. I've had them twice today and I counted them each time.... the first time was 89 of them and the second time was 88 of them. Is that 89 jolts of electrical current or what am I feeling exactly?

Taps

It's more learning about what is happening. It's not stressing me out. I'm going to read about pvcs. I don't think my home monitor has a function to send a report. I have the Boston Scientific Latitude box. It just felt artificial somehow...
Latitude button

I have a BS Latitude for remote monitoring and there is a heart shapped button on it that if pressed - and you are close to the unit - will take a reading from your PM and send it to the Dr.
Please review the instructions that came with it as there are different indicators that can display (including flashing colors) that will tell you what's going on.

But I didn't think you could randomly send readings, just if prompted by your doctor. Also the scheduled ones it does automatically. Thanks.
Thumps

When I'm pacing, it feels like light thumps against my sternum. Sometimes, when I'm paying attention, I can feel it in the base of my throat too.
I have a medtronic and maybe it's different, but my device technician was adament that I only send a manual reading when they ask.
Thumps!

Yeah...I think that's the deal with mine too, though I'm going to ask at my next appointment. I think it's happening only when I pace in my ventricle. It's the same feeling I get when the tech "tests" that chamber. I've only felt it 3 times in a month. I have SSS so I pace in the ventricle very little according to the tech. Lots of mumbo jumbo to learn. Light thumps or little taps...very rhythmic. It doesn't feel like natural heartbeats. It isnt bothersome but the two chambers feel very different when the tech does her thing. I'm going to ask about it just because I'm trying to sponge up everything. I'm the type that freaks out less when I'm armed with information. Thanks.
Sending Reports
by farleywv - 2017-06-25 08:18:17
I have Medtronic. I can send reports through App on my phone and a wireless handheld If you feel something irregular send a transmission in. They are paid to read them and will see if any problems Takes awhile to adjust to having something artificial running your heart. Hang in there
You know you're wired when...
Youre officially battery-operated.

If you have a remote monitor, send a report. They can tell you what happened the two times you felt something. Odds are you did not feel the pacing but rather the heart responding to the pacing or possibly pvc's. The jolt that it puts out is very very minimal, replicating what the heart would do on its own.
You will drive yourself crazy if you sit around counting beats all day long and thinking about the pacer workign. If you feel bad, then count, but otherwise try to resist the urge. Go do something to take your mind off it.
