ICD has been in since March 2 - developed infection 6 weeks later - treated with 21 says of antibiotics - infection cleared but doc said there's a 70% chance it will return but ... Cardiolite stress test indicates no heart damage, angiogram indicates clear arteries.
Doctor said 'extract it - you don't need it'. Or, leave it in and don't worry about battery replacement. But if infection returns he will remove it. Not sure what readings he's gotten but he is an electrophysiologist and I trust his judgement.
Anyone have like experience?

i got my pm in March and have been miserable for the past 3 months. Saw a new set of docs who both agree it was not the right solution. They made a couple of changes and I feel like myself again. If all goes well we will discuss pm and lead extraction at the end of July.
No experience but ...

Happy to say I have no experience with your dilemma, but if I did, I'd want a second opinion, ideally from someone in a completely separate practice, or if possible, a major teaching hospital.
It's not about not trusting your doctor. It's just that nobody knows everything. Looking at a question from several points of view can give a larger perspective, bring up questions you haven't thought to ask, etc, and lead to better decisions.
Certainly, I would want to understand why, if I needed it before, I didn't need the ICD now.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.

And have felt terrible ever since. Saw new doctor last week and he adjusted settings and is suggestin extracting pm if it doesn't pace me over the next month. With the new settings I feel great. Pm is set to 30 and likely
not pacing me at all.
