Hi Everyone, I was looking over my last printout from the pacemaker check up, and I discovered that I am getting an attack of atrial fibrilation on a schedule. My last 5 attacks were all 94 days apart. I just had one today and it was 99 days since my last attack. Has anyone else had this happen to them? It seems like too much of a coincidence for the attacks to be so evenly spaced out. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I really appreciate any input. I'm really don't want to go on any meds, but my Dr. is trying to convince me to take something for the afib. I would rather try to cure it naturally. If I could just figure out what is going on. It seems like too big of a coincidence. Thanks so much.

My Experience

I have AFIB periodically, and never know when I have it until my pacemaker device check. There is a StopAfib Forum online that may help you answer your questions. After my pacemaker surgery I started AFIB. I had many complications. I keep a daily calendar of my blood pressure, heart rate, and daily events. (Someone suggested adding meals - which sounds like a good idea). From the calendar my AFIB happened when I was stressed! Every time I went to the doctor or had a medical test I went into AFIB. Extremely interesting! I take Metroprolol to lower my heart rate. I am hoping to eventually get off of all meds started after my surgery. Right now my cardiologist and family doctor are working together to reduce my anxiety.
You know you're wired when...
Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
From My Perspective

Having AFIB approximately every 94 days apart is a mystery. Are you saying that between those attacks you are free of having any AFIB. Is the attack severe? What is your heart rate and how long does the AFIB last? I have frequent AFIB that is now relatively short in duration. and that is after taking daily beta blockers and having a heart ablation and yet I am grateful since the incidents are nothing like the AFIB attack I had with a HR of 232 BPM that resulted in hospitalization for 5 days. A nurse told me that my heart was in continuous AFIB for one whole day during my hospitalization. So, unless the AFIB you experience every 94 days is severe, it just appears to be an interesting mystery that maybe some other PM member or your cardiologist can help solve. I would be filled with joy if I had such infrequent boughts of AFIB. It will be interesting to read what other PM members say about this. Perhaps they can help solve this mystery.
