Lifting restrictions

I am due to have a crt-d implanted on June 20th. I am very nervous about the surgery and whole lifestyle changes. I have a very low energy so I know that I can't go on and the surgery is needed. I work for a major airline and my job requires me to pick up 70 pounds. Does anyone know realistically will I be able to return to work? I appreciate your comments. Thank you all for educating us newbies.

Doctors vary but the average is 6-8 weeks, sometimes as long as 3 months for that much weight. When you are cleared to lift again, you'll want to ease into it so closer to 3 months might be more realistic.

Once you heal, you shouldn't really have any lifestyle changes. Most of us heal, move on, and for the most part forget about it. It has very little impact on our day to day lives other than making us feel better.

Lifestyle changes?

There's a lot of misinformation floating around, left over from pacemakers 30-40 years ago. I actually heard some of it quoted on one of the TV hospital dramas.

Having a pacemaker or CRT-D does not make you fragile. I don't find that having a pacemaker limits my life in any way, and that's true for most.

Once you're healed up, you should be able to do anything your overall condition and health allows you to do.

Good things are coming.
