Portable Generators

I just received my PM about 6 weeks ago. Now that spring is here we will be going camping.

I have a 2000 watt Invertor Yamaha generator. Can I start the generator and be near it?

Thanks

with caution

Portable generators are one of the few things we need to be careful around. That doesn't mean avoid it altogether, just use caution. It's only really a problem if our device is less than 6" from it. I get in and get out when I start ours up, don't take any longer than necessary, and have never felt anything odd.

It won't do any damage. Worst case, for the time we are close to it, it can put it in test mode like when they interrogate it. That white thing they put over it to test is a magnet, so that's what it'll feel like. Depending how much you pace, you ,may not even feel it. But odds are, you won't be close to it for long enough to do anything.

Unrelated but I am jealous

I have a 5500 watt generator and will only use remote start.
