Cardiac Conversion 1st time

First time caller- I had my pacemaker inserted in June 2016 due to bradycardia.Developed afib in October-the clinic found it.I didn't even know, On medication Eliquis and Multaq. Just had follow-up appt last week and I am in afib (again? or still?).

I am having my 1st cardiac conversion and am somewhat nervous? I have heard about people needing a few treatments(?). If anyone has words of wisdom and/or calming words that would be cool.  Peace Out.

Had one about 3 months ago- nothing to it. General anaeasthetic, won't feel a thing. Wake up and its all done.  The nurses do them where I went to ( Liverpool, UK).  You will need to be anticoagulated if you have had your AF more than 48 hours as there is a risk of blood clot formation.

There is a failure rate, mainly in the long term, so don't think that this offers a permanent cure, it doesn't to a lot of people ( depending on all sorts of things like duration, underlying problems etc.)

The only minor problem I had was some tender, redness from the electrode pad site.  I am still in sinus rhythm. I was back to swimming after a week ( 1 mile). It is probably a good idea to build up your fitness slowly.

If you have any very specific worries just send me a private message.

Best of luck,

Selwyn

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
