Hi all,
I have a question.
does anyone experience episodes of feeling anxious for no apparent reason . I seem to going great for a period of time with my pacemaker then bam out of the blue I develop this nervous feeling and it feels as though my pacemaker is going super fast. I get short of breath and just feel off. It lasts for 2 or more days than just goes away
It doesnt happen often but I'm curious if anyone else has experainced these sorts of feelings since having a pacemaker it would be great and certainly helpful to know
thanks,
Warren

In my experience this is a very common thing. I have experienced these feelings after my heart episodes, includingthe heart attacks and surgeries. Talking to a professional about it may be a good idea. And you want to be sure that something else isn't going on with the pacemaker, it may need an adjustment. Depression is also a very common thing to go through after an event. All though common, we're all different so who knows for sure what may be the causes. Keep in contact with the Drs and let them know what you are feeling. Good luck!

Thank you for your feedback I will follow up with the specialist and it's somewhat comforting that I'm not alone and others experiance these types of feelings 👍
Possibly Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia?

For the first year and a half with my PM, I had episodes of rapid HR and anxious feelings. Eventually my second Electrophysiologist diagnosed Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia, and worked through a long EP study in order to reprogram my PM. Since then, I have been fine. I can tell you that Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia feels like anxiety. I felt short of breath and my heart beat rapidly. Even now, in the rare incidents when PMT occurs, it takes me a while to recognize it. Irecommend you mention this to your doctor as a possible cause.

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.

Hi Warren,
In short, yes. I have never been an anxious person and when my wife (who is) complained of her anxious feelings in the past i just thought she was been dramatic, how wrong was I! ive been feeling like this for the past 4 days since leaving hospital, only over the last day or two realising that its something im experiencing myself now. I think i was quite ignorant in thinking i could just turn up to hospital, have my pacemaker fitted and just 'get on with it'. I'm now well aware its going to take some time to adjust, but rest assured its certainly not uncommon from what im reading.
