Getting "zapped"?

Hello All,

One month since my first single lead PM.  Overall, things have been fantastic!

Just a curious inquiry here.  My PM is pacing at 45% of the time which I was told at my 2 week follow up appointment with my EP.  I can almost swear I can feel a little' zap' on occasion and only if I am lying or sitting in a certain position (mainly weight bearing to my left side)  And again, not every time it goes off, just maybe like once every three days or so.  I was told by my EP that it is not common to feel it pace but I might.  I can only describe it as exactly that, a zap or a twitch and its like I can feel the electricity run down my left arm/shoulder/left chest area.  So just curious if I am feeling my PM go off or if I am just imagining things.  Thank you to all.

Talk to your doctor. Since it's so new and and you only feel it in certain positions, it's possible a lead is moving more than it should. That said, it's pretty rare to feel it. The signal it sends out is very minimal, mimicking what our hearts should be doing on its own. You are pacing nearly half the time, which means every other beat. With a resting rate of 60, that's around 25-30 times a minute, thousands and thousands of beats in a day.

Ditto Robin's advice, healing nerves feel weird.

Shock

I can't say I've ever felt a shock, but I do feel an almost hiccup, heart in my throat sensation when one of my leads goes to work. Thankfully, that lead only works 20%, while my other works 80%. Hope it gets better for You!

You could very well be feeling your pacemaker. I have had mine for 3 years now and every night when it does a self test of the leads I feel it every time, not just once, maybe 8 to 9 times over a twenty minute time space each night at the same time. So yes, you may be feeling something. Talk to your EP.

This happened to me too. It may simply just be nerve damage, that's what mine was. It will be uncomfortable for a while, but shouldn't bother you too much.

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.
