Hello everyone,
I wanted to share this with all of you, awesome people.
Three years ago, I recieved and implant of a Boston Scientific pacemaker, 2 Leads and tons of unknowns answers of why that was happening to me. 41years old at that time, fitness personal trainer, healthy otherwise.
I had symptoms on a Sunday morning and a hearbeat of 30bps by the evening whey I arrived to the emergency room.
The following Wednesday I was going home, with my new friend on my chest, scared and 100% dependent on it, due to a 3rd degree blockage.
Three years went by, and you know, every 6 months going for your appointment to check your device, have a quick chat with your doctor, he reminded you that you are a 100% dependent so you don't get tooo confortable.
My last appointment about a month, the tech for boston s. it was doing his normal routing, after I complained a weird feeling on a specific day and time -which prob. was a bit of low blood pressure- testing the leads and playing with my heart lol that is how I call it when they make it go fastern and slower and what not...After a few minutes he looked at me and he said..."well I don't know what happened that day because nothing abnormal is shown on the reading of your pacemaker, but I am going to tell you one thing -he said- your heart right now, is the one leading and pacing you by itself"..I was like what? can you repeat that, please?....
YES, hearts can get better. So we agreed to go into a little bit of experiment, and reduce the speed of response from my pacemaker, so we allowed my heart and its own pace to lead to see how much or in what instances is responding and being independent. We will run this for 3 months..
I guess I wanted to put this message out there, for all the people that just got an implant and wondering if there is any chance of living your lives normal again? The answer is yes, no only that, you can get better.
This website is a blessing that I found on my second day at home, and the support and inconditional love I received from the members of this our pacemaker club, has no price, I want to return this by telling people, there is hope.
love to all

Was a pleasure to read your wonderful news. Congratulations.
Whilst my PM doesn't stop me doing anything I want to do having your own sinus node doing the job would be even better.
Loved hearing your good news story

Great story Miranda.
Our bodies are capable of amazing things.
repair

Current research suggests that our heart can repair iteself. This was found during clinical trials using stem cells. (repair was not dependent on stem cell receipt).
You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker interferes with your electronic scale.

Hi, Miranda
Yes, we can get better. I survived a heart virus in 2004, and 2 ICDs have seen me through the best of days and a few not so good ones for 12 years, I think your positive attitude has helped you along your way, and the beach makes everything better for me! Thank you for sharing.
