New here and freaking out

Hi. I am Windy and like I said I'm New to the site. I found it after an issue tonight then researching it a little. I got my PM in Aug 2014 due to Bradycardia...I'm 42. I freaked out a bit tonight. I have been trying to locate this 'siren' noise I keep hearing with no luck. Tonight while in a room and everything was silent I began to hear it and realized that it was me.....I was beeping. I will lbe calling my Dr first thing tomorrow but because I was freaking..I called St. Jude (Abbott...whatever) and the tech said I shouldn't worry but to make sure I called my Doc. I have the PM2210. Was told the battery life would be around 5-7 years depending on how much it has to work....its not even been 3 years yet. Could it really need a battery replacement already?

St Jude battery "recall"

by LondonAndy - 2017-03-17 05:30:40

I'm afraid it may be because of a fault with some St Jude pacemaker batteries.  See https://www.sjmglobal.com/en-int/patients/arrhythmias/resources-support/battery-advisory for details and how to check if yours is affected.  You should have been contacted by your pacemaker people already if affected.

possible but not likely

Have you been going for regular checks? I had a lead go bad once and it sucked down the battery in no time, picture the air conditioner running but the window open. The house cools, but the power bill skyrockets. But we knew about it, there were signs during my regular checks that the lead wasn't working right and I knew to expect the battery to go down faster than it should.

It's probably nothing to worry about it. Worst case if it's a recall or something else to suddenly cause the battery to deplete, it's an easy fix. I'm on my 5th, got my newest one last year. I was in the drive through at 11am for a late breakfast, came home, worked a few hours then took a nap. Easy!

Update

I called first thing this morning and they made me an appointment for Wednesday morning. Calmed me down some since they didn't seem rushed. They called me back a bit ago and I now have to get there as soon as I can on Monday morning (I love about 2 1/2 hours from Memphis where my Dr is)  They also gave me a few things to watch for and if they happen, I have to go to the ER. Freaking out a little now that they moved my appt up but trying to calm down.

Sounds like my plan. Visiting a family member I haven't saw in a very long time tomorrow but today and Sunday are all about some spring cleaning
