Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting (but I've been lurking for a while.) My name's Aatikah, I'm 23 and I've had my pacemaker for just over a year now. I don't know if I'm just being paranoid but for the last three days I've been feeling my heartbeat quite hard for no reason. I've not been doing anything out of my normal routine and usually when I'm resting my heart rate increases slightly and my heart beats fast to the point where I can feel the beats without touching my chest. Is this a common thing or should I get it checked out? I'm still getting used to living with my pacemaker and often forget I have one but I don't want to seem overly paranoid to my doctor!
Thanks in advance :)

feeling it

If it's a change and you didn't feel it before, I'd give a call and see what they think. It's probably nothing but can't hurt to run it by them since it's new. Have you checked your blood pressure?

After a year you know when something feels different.
As stated, it may be just be an adjustment is needed so call your doctor to be sure.

31 had mine implanted 29 months ago. As a previous member commented check your blood pressure, and there's nothing wrong about be paranoid about it.

You know how you're feeling better than anyone, including your doctor. So, ask him/her anything you want. They are there to help you.
I've lived with a pacemaker since 1978, through my teens, twenties, thirties and now forties. I encourage you to live life to the fullest. Many younger people, like you, have devices!

You know what you feel

If you feel like something doesnt feel right or seems off dont be afraid to say something, I am 35 and often feel like I am being dismissed because often young people having a PM are rare and unique. If you feel something say something/.. :-)
You know you're wired when...

I'm 26 and had mine for about the same amount of time. I've had similar feelings in the past-my doctor told me its fairly common in younger patients to be sensitive to how it feels when its pacing, so you may just be feeling that. He ended up adjusting my settings, so I feel it much less often now. If it concerns you, I would definitely give your doctor a call, just to check in and make sure. :)
