The tattoo artist has said he cannot give me a tattoo due to the tattoo machine giving off a strong magnetic field which can effect the pacemaker. Is this ture??

When I had a MRI one of the questions was whether I had a tattoo and if I did was red ink used. Have no idea why that was a question.

Most magnets are not strong enough to affect the pacer. They are well shielded so very few things smaller than an industsrial magnet will bother it. Worst case, it pulls a switch closed and puts it in safety mode, same as when they test it. It might feel weird if you pace a lot, but it's harmless and goes back to normal as soon as the magnet is moved. But people with pacers get tattooes all the time, no big deal. When in doubt, call the device manufacturer. They can tell you specifically for your device.
