Can you feel it?

Hey there, I just got my pacer, a surprise to me!, in November. One day I'm feeling heart flutters, a stress test (gawd that was awful!!) later, and meds (they stopped that after I fluttered to 207 bpm, then stopped for three beats and crashed to 21 bpm), and a quick consult and I'm a new owner.

I named my pacer JPS.416 -- John Phillip Sousa at 50/120 (my beats/his beats).

Anyway, my question is this: I am still tender. It's been 3 months now. Most days it feels like a really sticky bandage has been removed quickly. I feel it bumping against my collar bone sometimes too.

Anybody else?

All best, Rico

I feel the sticky plaster thing all the time I had mine Dec 16, I thought it was the stupid doctor in A&European who actually tried to rip off my really sticky bandage.

Still sore

I received my pacemaker four months ago after my heart stopped during an angiogram to check my faulty valves; I woke up with a new piece of hardware- surprise!   I still have a lot of tenderness at the pacemaker site and was told it could take several months before I would feel comfortable.  I still have trouble sleeping on my left side and have been getting mild, infrequent chest pains.  My three month checkup showed everything was good and again, was told it would take time.  I don't have much fat in the clavicle area so my pacemaker stands out. I will probably always feel discomfort there and use extra padding under the seatbelt where it hits the PM.  Don't hesitate to contact your doctor if you continue to have problems.

Better after time

I have mine for bit mor than 5 moths. I do not feel it most of time, can sleep on boths sides etc. But there are times when I feel some discomfert from it, but as time goes, it happens more seldom.

It's there

Hey all. I've had my PM for over a year now and st the start I couldn't get used to it at all. Couldn't sleep properly etc. A year on I am much more at ease. Yes it's there, if I lie with my arm above my head my collar bone aches still. If I reach over my shoulder I feel it.

it takes time to get used to all the feelings that weren't there before.

i had mine as an emergency as I had 2 atrial flutters Bpm increased above 250. Just give yourselves time. If I touch my scar it's still sore.

all the best. Laura xx

Getting there.

Hi Steve,

Had mine four months now. I still feel mine but its gradually easing off. I can sleep on my left side and on my chest now.  I feel it if I wear a heavy winter jacket etc especially if my pockets are full : )

It can still feel tender at times, I have only recently been able to touch it whilst showering. I have bumped it accidentally and also my 9 stone dog jumped on the bed and landed on it a few weeks ago which was a little worrying.

I am at the point where I can forget I have it at times which is great.

I think its all about letting time take its course really.
