Read a short blurb in the newspaper today about a guy in Ohio who was charged with arson. The authorities got a search warrant "to retrieve electronic data stored on his cardiac pacemaker .... during and after the fire." Seems he said he noticed the fire, then packed a bag, threw the bag out the window and then carried the bag to his car. A "cardiologist said it was highly improbable, with his medical condition, that he could do all he said he did in the short time indicated." That all sounds a like a bit much to me BUT the "authorities said gasoline was found on his clothing".
Just focusing on the search warrant. What do you think about that? Should your pacemaker data be discoverable? The artcle also said "The case has raised privacy concerns from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a nonprofit that focuses on defending civil liberties in the digital world."

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.

This story has been making the rounds for awhile. I believe it originated on a somewhat less than reputable news/blog site, then was picked up by Fox news about a week ago.
Anybody who's been around pacers and patients long enough should be suspicious of this report as another likely fake news report. Then again it could be true just like the Bowling Green massacre proved to be...
