EECP Treatments and Rate response switch

Dear Friends, I have been taking EECP treatments for My Cardiovascular System. These Treatments consist of Laying on an elevated Table and having what looks like Blood Pressure cuffs put around your ankles calfs and Rump! The idea is to build a strong collateral system of vessels to supply your Heart! It has been 4 months since My By-Pass, and I am doing everything I can to be Healthy! My question is, they want Me to have My rate response turned off for the 35 (1 Hour) sessions. I have done very well with all of My settings! I am concerned about having the rate response turned off! Will I feel different? Will this make Me Vulnerable to skipped beats? Will I be able to cotinue My walking program? How about Work? I guess what I am saying is, is this dangerous? Any thoughts Would be helpful! The technitians said the Pacer is sensing the activity and increasing My Heart rate. The point is to let the machine do the work, and let Your Heart rest! They want the pulse to be low. Mine is around 65 while resting! But on the machine it will go up higher than they want, to benefit My Heart. Has anyone Here ever used this Therapy? I welcome all responses! Thanks, Pastor Mike

Rate response is a setting that lets the pacemaker increase your heart rate when it senses you are exercising. It is extremely helpful for active folks with pacemakers, because it helps the heart keep up with the increased oxygen demand that exercise requires.

Different manufacturers have their own way of triggering rate response. In your case, the rate response seems to be interfering with your treatments. I don't believe that turning it off during your treatments will be a problem for you, I doubt you will even notice it.
