Panic Attack

I've had similar experiences in the past. I've had the occasional panic attack that made me respond the same way, and actually used to be one of the things that triggered my vesovegal problems (which is why I'm paced). Might be worth it to have a doctor do some sort of stress test/tilt table test to see if they can figure out whats going on.
You know you're wired when...
Youre officially battery-operated.

Scared to death ?

Regrettably a very severe adrenaline rush can actually kill you.
If the sinus and AV nodes are overwhelmed by adrenaline the heart can go into abnormal rhythms.
If it's not your lucky day you can drop dead. Maybe dying on a water slide would be a good way to go , but on the whole it is probably best to avoid high-adrenaline situations if you have certain heart conditions. The term " scared to death " is based on fact
A couple of years ago I went on quite an exciting roller-coaster ride in a theme park in Hong Kong and experienced just the sort of symptoms which you described . Afterwards I read the warning notices for people with cardiac conditions.
But it would be a sad world if we're not willing to live a little dangerously !
