Soar left arm

I received my pacemaker in September of this year. My question is has anyone else had experience with extremely sore muscles in their left arm? The muscle at the top of my shoulder gets extremely soar and I feel that I have less strength as well. This has only started in the past month though. When I try to stretch my left arm I sometimes experience exscrusiating pain. I was only limited in use of my arm for 4 weeks after the implantation so I am curious as to if this pain is related since it has only started a few months after. I did not have any of this discomfort when I started using my left arm again.

Muscle atrophy

I can't think of any reason you should have that problem except for the possibility of Muscle atrophy taking place. A month is not a long time, but may be long enough that it could cause soreness when you start to use those muscles again.

Just a guess....................

Hey Picante, was your PM placed under the muscle? I didn't have any muscle pain with my first placement under the skin, but what you have sounds a lot like mine, now that it is under the muscle. Mine doesn't hurt real often, but it is very achy when it does and almost feels like a deep cramp.

Recent onset shoulder pain and weakness.

You really need to see a doctor over this. There are many different medical causes for what you are experiencing.

I think given the recent onset, and not its direct association with having the pacemaker, you are more likely to have a medical problem either around that area, or you can, not uncommonly, get referred pain there. The weakness also signifies other than a pacemaker problem.

Seek medical help.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
