Hi again,
My first pacemaker was implanted in 2008. Last year, it was recalled for sudden battery depletion and a second one was implanted.
A month ago, was feeling generally lousy and my family doctor found my blood pressure to be 80/50 with no change if I sat or stood up.
After an echo, ecg etc, it was determined that they need to replace the whole thing and add a wire going down the back of the heart to try to get the ventricles to beat in unison.
The surgeon has given me a 50/50 chance of improvement but added it is very tricky to get the wire where it needs to be. It also takes nearly 5 hrs due to the twisting and turning of the blood vessel and everyone seems to be just a bit different in anatomy.
Im going in tomorrow and it's being done Wednesday afternoon.
I've not been nervous about any of this before but I don't have a good feeling about this procedure/op.
last year, I was awake for most of the time, the anaesthesia person up and left after reversing the drugs. When I hollered and hollered, a nurse told me that 'they're just finishing up'!!!
I have a pain disorder and really am concerned about how to cope if they don't keep me well sedated. The surgeon knows, has even changed the hospital venue so here's hoping.
im still very concerned as this is a much longer procedure and he told me that once they're 'in' they do not stop til it's done. Doubt I can holler for a few hours!
also concerned about the 50/50 part.
has anyone had a successful repair of the ventricles from CRT?
thanks very much

i am happy to report that I am still here bruised and sore but technically, it went well.
from my pov, it was a bit of an ordeal. Glad it's over, hope I get a few or more years from it.
