One year today

Well it's been one year today since I had my pacemaker implanted. The beginning of the year was a bit of s struggle but since I have run two marathons, gone to Mexico and the Bahamas for the first time and best of all watched my son get married.

In the beginning I cried many days thinking I wasn't going to ever get back to my old self but now I am.  Other than having s small bump and scar on my chest you'd never know this little device is in there working 70% of the time to keep my heart beat at regular rate.

So for those just new to this, it really does get better over time and I'm so grateful for this technology!!

Pcemaker and flying

by Sabah - 2016-12-01 11:13:18

I'm know how you feel. I cried at first, but now I am so thankful for my device. I will be flying for the first time in my life in January to see my daughter graduate from Air Force basic training (she is leaving on the 6th) and I am a little aprehensive. Did you have any problems going through the metal detectors?

nice to hear

Hi and happy one year anniversay with your pm.   It is nice to hear when people are doing so great and hearing what they have been able to do after their surgery!

Metal Detectors

@Sabah I don't go through the metal detectors.  I just tell them I have a pacemaker and they either do a pat down or put me in the body scanner.  I have had no issues at any airports with this and I have flown through Mexico, Bahamas, US and Canada.
