My pm works 40 per cent of the time. First time I flew with it and on take off I felt a thud from my heart. Nearly took my breathe away. It happened again on my return flight. I'm not scared of flying so heart was beating normally. My doctor can't explain it and I'm ok. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience. Never had it before my pm. Settings were ok too. Could the force of the take off cause this. I welcome any comments.
thanks

A lot of sensations
by Theknotguy - 2016-10-24 08:28:30
You get a lot of sensations when your body is being moved instead of you moving it. Add to that the anxiety of flying, especially if you don't do it all the time, and you can get some weird sensations. Your eyes are telling you you aren't moving, your inner ear is telling you you are, resulting in some strange sensations. Also, my PM has an accelerometer in it, so my heart rate can change if the accelerometer feels my body moving because of equipment upon or in which I'm riding. Sometimes that can account for strange sensations.
I don't get the sensations you describe, however I've flown all over the US, up to Alaska, and over to the UK, and in all sorts of aircraft. So I'm probably a little more accustomed to what's going on.
I pace 80 - 90 % of the time and get along fine with airport security and airplanes. While I know it's hard to do, just settle back and (as much as you can) enjoy the ride.
Hope everything else is going fine with your pacemaker.

I fly 3-4 times a year and has never had the sensation.
I think I would carry a finger pulse monitor when your fly next time to show you your heart rate, at least this might make you feel a little more comfortable that everything is fine ..

many thanks everyone for your comments. I will see if this occurs next time I fly. I don't even notice my pm anymore since it was tweaked after 6 months of problems all is quiet day and night bliss.
