Hi everyone
I just recently received my PM and I'm wondering if the security screening at major events is safe like baseball games and concerts or is it the same as airport security? I haven't seen anything about this and I'm going to the Adele concert this week in Toronto. Anyone know??
Thank you!!

It used to be that we shouldn't walk through but with the newer ones it's perfectly safe and we don't set them off. I used to say something but then they'd come at me with a wand, which is worse for us than the detector itself. Concert security is much less educated than airports. Easier to just walk through wiht everyone else! Have fun!!!!!!
No big deal

Unless you enjoy being groped by some big ugly hairy guy with greasy hands, garlic breath, one tooth, and spray on tan, just walk through. In fact you are safe walking through any security screening gates or store detectors. Worst thing happens, the alarm goes off and you gotta run for your life. For some reason old antiquated stories about needing to be hand fondled just won't die.
Read the manufacturer's instructions in the manual you received with your device.
What can it do?

What affect does it have on a PM? Can it alter the PM settings? What affect does it have on us?
effect

New ones? Nothing.
Older devices? There is a very very small chance it will put it in test mode for the time it takes to walk through it. Which, essentially, is no effect because it only takes a second to walk through.

it is not recommended to be near one of these for too long. If you have your ID card from your pacemaker, be sure to carry it and explain that you would like a physical pat down or ask that they keep the wand away from your pacer.
