There are over 3 million people worldwide with pacemakers , this number is increasing at an estimated rate of 600,000 p.a.. Many of these are frequent flyers, Security staff in ALL major airports are well-trained and are very accustomed to processing pacemaker passengers.
The pacemaker card serves no other purpose than to confirm to the staff that you have a pacemaker . Point at your pacemaker site before you go through the security gates and you will hardly ever be asked to produce a card . If you are , flash your card and you will be processed accordingly. I only have an English card.
I have flown from London to Chinese airports ( Shanghai and Beijing ) with an English-only PM card and had no problems whatsoever . China is not a 3rd world country , I have had far greater problems with security in J.F.K. where most of the security people appear to be brain-deficient .
If it makes you feel more secure get an international card but, I promise you, there is absolutely no need ( your pacemaker was probably made in China ! )

How old is your pacemaker?

Mine is only about 2 years old, and I think the current generation are pretty well protected from interference so I don't say anything about my PM and just go through the arch like everybody else. And I am 100% paced. I have an English only identity card, which I always carry but have never had to show - as Ian says, just pointing at your pm site seems to be a well recognised sign which I used when I did tell them I had a PM.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
