Merlin@home broadband

Merlin@home, you're so @toast, at last! Gross negligence is a criminal offense, indeed. So now as part of the acquisition of St.Jude by Abbott for $25B - we can all exhale as the dirty laundry comes out in public via Justine's report from MedSec (33 pages).

Hacking into the StJ pacemaker by Barnaby Jack (RIP) and other white hats from 50-ft radius was proven and replicated ever since they preventatively turned off veep Dick in 2007. So finding out that the home monitors are even worse than experienced should not zap your brain or your ticker. We are using Merlin@home worldwide with or without cell phones, the company's "secure encrypted" wi-fi and overpriced Buffalo equipment with poor execution of Linux code and reckless "security updates".

Shorts' CarsonB summed it up in interview for Bloomberg, Aug.25 - almost a quote: "MedSec testers came to us, if they had gone directly to the medical device maker, “they would sweep this under the rug. They felt that it’s very important for users of these devices, for patients, to know about the risks. Our assessment, as well as that of MedSec, is that for a number of years StJ in this realm has been putting profits before patients." Facepalm+Duh!

Y'all - after unleashing brigades of TX lawyer infantry for a gross negligence class action settlement of $0.40 per, please select a comfortable secluded location without extradition until $25B sellout is completed or your new heart (from a 38-year young warm crash victim) is securely transplanted... for now the POTS and a magnet will have to do. Every day is a gift :-)

O'er my head

This  ''rant'' makes no sense .   I have a St Judes PM, without any problems ..  IF there are any ''probs'', I know not about them ..

two years later and still ranting about St. Jude's. Word of advice...learn to put together a coherent argument based on real facts and perhaps someone will listen.

And I find it offensive that you think hackers who spend their time breaking into life saving medical equipment are good guys...They're criminals and should be in prison

I am English , I live in England , speak English and always send posts in English.

I'm sorry but I couldn't work out what language your post is in. I understand the individual words but not the sentences where you string words together.  Patch is right , you really do need to send something more coherent if you are after a sensible response.

Cheers

Ian

Quite possibly time,

For another dose of your medication....

Sorry, Guys, this is not totally...

...a rant!  I did some Google work after reading the post twice to find out what he is talking about.

Oh, he writes good English, allright - Ian, he's a Yank & kinda gets emotionally involved, so it seems a bit whacky.  Uses some colloquialisms that would pass over your head, since our two brands of the Mother Tongue are actually quirte different.

We all remember the discussions about the hacking bit a few yrs ago.  He is following up on that by referring to several things that happened here in the US Court system when an outfit named "MedSec " pulled some shenanigans by going to some stock trading house; selling a big batch of StJ stock "Short"  at a high price for delivery sometime in the future, then releasing some potentially bad info on StJ's PM security.  When the news hit the financial world, & StJ stock went, momentarily, in the tank, Medsec bought the stock at the reduced price & delivered it to the buyer at the higher price.  made a killing on the transaction.  StJ is now suing MedSec over that little action.

Yes - he's an "Insider " on this subject, & knows lots of details.  Went over my head, too - till I exercised Google.

Happy Sunday to all!

Donr

Thanks

Thanks Don for the translation ; good to hear from you . When you disappear for a while I always worry that you may have been savaged by one of those bears who keep callling on you.

Lesson to be learned?

by Grateful Heart - 2016-09-25 12:55:12

Keep at least a 75 ft. radius from anyone wearing a white hat.

Is a RED HAT...

by donr - 2016-09-25 20:33:19

....Just wonderin'!

Donr

Yes

Red Hats are safe so you can keep wearing yours.  :-)

Grateful Heart ?

by IAN MC - 2016-09-26 05:20:54

I know that Don won't go out without a colander on his head . Is he now putting a red hat on top of the colander ??.

Ian

It gets crowded up there on top...

by donr - 2016-09-26 09:21:28

...with the colander, the skate board helmet & the red hat.  Sorta like a Dr. Seuss book.   Lessee, now - "The Cat in the Hat" has been used. "The Weenie in the Beanie" belongs to a former US Congressman...

Ian, you forgot the helmet!!!!

I'm in New York and Don is in Georgia (I think)....he drifts sometimes.  Since he's been wearing his red hat I can now see the top of the hat from here....it's lovely.  Wait....on my tippy toes I see a purple...dress?  Don??  Mrs. Don??

If he gets up on his stool or ladder or soap box, perhaps you can see him from across the pond.

(It's good to see you guys here...I miss the jokes).

Red Hat Club

by donr - 2016-09-27 09:25:03

Grateful heart - can't be either me or Mrs. Don you see in that purple dress - while on your tippy-tippy little toesies.  Mrs. Don wouldn't wear anything so gauche as a red hat & purple dress & I restrict mine to the latest pattern of Army camo.  Grab your binoculars & look more closely at my red hat, perched atop my skateboard helmet  (nestled tightly atop Mrs. Don's colander) - can you make out the embroidery on the front?

I get lotsa funny looks from riders aboard "Harley Hawgs" when they stop beside us at traffic lights - but what they don't realize is that I can smile mischieviously back at them because that helmet saved my life when my head went through a car door window back in 2007.

Cheers!

Don

In that case

by Grateful Heart - 2016-09-27 19:55:34

Where do I get the helmet and colander?

Grateful Heart

Depends...

by donr - 2016-09-27 23:39:30

..on what you want to pay.  Colander at Wal-mart is just a couple bucks.  Go to Williams -Sonoma & the price jumps to about $20, minimum. No better protection from the radio waves from behind the Moon trying to tell you what to do.

Skate Board Helmet - about $28 at any good sporting goods store.  Bell makes a good one - I know from bitter experience - or was it a good experience. The helmet took out the car window so my head didn't have to.

Also saved my head from a hammer a grandson dropped on it from about 8 ft up in a  well house we were building.  Some of us kids just have all the luck - Did I mention that I've had three exposures to rabies?

Cheers!

Don

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
