I will be needing to see my dentist soon for both cleaning and fillings and probably some x rays. Are there some precautions I or my dentist need to take? Thanks you all

It is because antibiotics are often given unecessarily that they are becoming inefective to treat serious infections. Unless you have a tooth infection or an abcess they are not necessary.
As for cleaning, my dentist will only do that manually, despite the fact that my Medtronic tech. says the ultra sonic cleaner is fine and will not cause problems.

Most scientists agree that one of the biggest threats facing mankind is the growing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics , Some of the main culprits in their over-use are dentists and vets.
Probably the biggest culprits of all are patients who ask for antibiotics quite unnecessarily.
Sorry Pastor Mike but you have not given good advice. There is absolutely no need for antibiotic cover with the vast majority of dental procedures whether you have a pacemaker or not.

The last time I went to my vet he wanted to give me an antibiotic so I barked "no". Then he took out a muzzle.
Regarding cleaning: Boston Scientific advised to tell my Dentist to let the cable for the Cavitron (the ultrasonic cleaning tool) fall below the chair and not across my body. However, my hygenist prefers to do it manually in my case.

I have an appointment in a couple of weeks for a cleaning and hadn't even given these things a thought. I'm glad I came across this post so I can be informed.
I'm actually going to move my cleaning to next spring since I just had one 6 months ago and my PM surgery was only 7 weeks ago. Also, I'm just tired of appointments right now!

Tell Your Dentist you have a Pacemaker and request some Anti-Biotics. It's only a precaution, but I do it every time I go! Good luck! Pastor Mike
