Hi. Quick question ((cuz I usually go into too much useless detail). I have to fly in a few days to be with my sister as my nephew had a heart attack. I'm nervous about flying for the first time with my pm. Will the altitude or anything have an effect? I wrote a few days ago cuz my heart was doing all the fluttering, skipping thing, I assumed cuz of the heat, and it also seems to do this if I walk too much or carry stuff, etc. Otherwise I feel great. Thanks

I have flown 3 times now since having my pm put in 2 years ago. No problem at all. However, I suggest if you think walking is being a problem it is so much better to have the airline get you a wheelchair and driver when you check your bags. That way you aren't half way there and find out it's too far. Also, remember when you go thru security to tell them you have a pacemaker. There are specific machines they use for us special folk! I hope your nephew is alright.
No problem flying

I have a dual lead pacemaker too (for complete heart block), and have had no problems when flying. Frankly, if I am going through western country airports, I also don't bother telling them that I have a PM at security and just walk through like anyone else. I had open heart surgery, so have some metal left in my chest, but neither the metal or the PM set anything off and I have had no ill effects. You may not wish to go quite that far, but I hope it gives some reassurance.
Thanks

Thank you so much! Now I feel confident that all will be okay with the flight. And thanks also for your wishes for Danny, my nephew! It really meant a lot to me!
You know you're wired when...
You have an excuse for being a couch potato.

Flying should be no problem

Hey!
My family and I do alot of traveling, and even on an over-sea flight, I haven't had any problem with my device. However, you have a pm, and I have a defibrillator. I doubt it would make much of a difference, but if it keeps bugging you, send an e-mail to your doctor and check it out!
Safe travels, and I hope your nephew is ok.
