not dizzy but something else

Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has had the feeling like you have just gotten off a cruise and need to get your land legs back. The best way I can describe it is that I feel woozy. It's almost like my eyes cannot adjust quick enough as I move fast and also I feel like my hearing is a bit off like my ears are plugged but I can still hear. I am only 6 weks post surgery, still adjusting but this is a new one for me? Half the time I really wonder if it is all in my head. One other new feeling I had was I was going for a leisurley bike ride and went up a hill. I had a big thud in my chest and nothing else came of it but, it did startel me is this normal as well when getting back into exercise?

The Short Answer

Hello L Joyce.

The short answer to your question is YES!  I DO think that what you're describing is part of the normal adjustment after having a PM implanted.  There are lots of crazy new feelings that you'll experience in your heart and they're almost always considered "normal."  That said, if your heart seems like it's getting into a really fast, or really irregular rhythm, have it checked out immediately.

I agree with NiceNiecey and would also recommend taking to your EP's office about maybe tweaking the settings both for minimum as well as recovery/response rate.

When I had mine put in the minimum rate was fine but they had to adjust the recovery/response rate a couple of times until I felt more normal exercising.
