hi all. Had a serious fall today. Split lip, swollen chin and jaw, arm, leg and left side collar bone all bruised and sore. So far no ill effects from pacemaker, but wondering if I should have it checked as it is directly below collar bone. Or should I just be happy my heart seems to be doing just fine, (since my last adjustment a couple weeks ago.). What happened today is I was going to take hold of a steel outdoor railing when I tripped and my face landed in the railing and I fell hard enough to be all bruised. Lip needed a couple stitches. What's the verdict?

pacer is fine

They're titanium, you didn't hurt it. There used to be a video on Heartbeat International's website with a boy who was shot in the chest. His pm stopped the bullet, saved his life, and kept on pacing. My dog plowed into my knee once, sent me face first into a steel door jamb. I put my hand out to break the fall and ended up with a fist shaped bruise right over the pacer, no damage.

Thanks so much everyone for your quick responses. You all really helped me calm down and understand that our "bionic" devices are very strong. Now I can focus all my attention on healing my very sore body. Aren't accidents stupid? My own fault also. Thanks again.
Fall

Don't want to be negative but my husband had a fall last July -slipped coming out of bath just bruised initially and got on with life. When he went for device check in October they were amazed he was not feeling like he did before he had ICD as one wire had totally broken and other one damaged-they reckoned a sharp edge of his collarbone had totally severed one lead and damaged other lead.Just goes to show it doesn't hurt to have x Ray and device check to make sure all ok if you do have a fall.I'm sure you are okay though just makes us think if anything like that happens again.
You know you're wired when...
You are always wired and full of energy.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
Been there, done that

I had a similar incident a few years ago. Slipped on a patch of ice going down stairs. Thank goodness these PM's are so rugged. Unless you are sensing any difference in your heart function, I wouldn't worry about your PM. It sounds as though other parts of your body took the brunt of the blows!
Hope you feel better soon!
