Heading to Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion on installation of dual-chamber Medtronic (do not know model) that would also include an AV Node ablation to treat (really, will just hide) "complicated, persistent, permanent a-fib" with "no disease or blockages". Does anyone have any offers on what to ask this unknown doc? They have had a month to review my medical documents and cd's of procedures. Thanks all.

Thank you BillH. I am still struggling with next steps; Cleveland didn't agree with my Mich EP's assessment.

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
PM ?

I would ask why the 2 chamber PM as they can't pace the atria or use it to sync to the ventricle. Possibly just to better monitor the AFIB, but that is only a guess.
The second is that with an AV node ablation you lose the natural increase in HR for increased activities. So you will depend on the rate response of the PM.
I would ask if the choses PM's rate response system is a good match to your activities.
