Hi-I'm new

Hi everyone--I got my pacemaker two years ago when I was 27...I have never been on here before and I have never really spoken to anyone else who has a pacemaker...it's very exciting to have so many people who might be going through similiar experiences. I have sick sinus syndrome or possibly stokes adams syndrome. Anyway my heart used to come to a grinding halt and make me faint. After the pacemaker things became better --but for a year afterwards I was still experiencing fainting spells though and the doc said I was having very short very high rate episodes (like 185 for 90 seconds in the middle of a normal day)-but these days it really has seem to stabilize which I'm happy about.
Anyway I just wanted to say hi-I'm a woman living in Toronto, I'm a social researcher -I love to run-I love music and art and travelling and many other things. I'd love to talk to anyone in a similiar situation-Thanks for lending your ear (or your eyes in this case I suppose) ---Take care! Meg

Nice to meet you!

Isn't it nice to not be passing out anymore? I hated waking up on the floor wondering what the heck happened! :-)

Once again, welcome.

Hi Meg,

I have had my pacemaker since Sept of this year. My heart also just started to stop. Luckily, I didn't have any fainting spells, because I was driving lots, as I have my own daycare business in my home, and am driving children in my car all the time. I had no idea that this was happening to me, only after some tests for another setback, that they found my heart trouble. I live in BC, originally from Nova Scotia. I'm glad your fainting spells are over and you feel much better. The club is a great place to meet people with pacemakers and it doesn't make you feel so alone or different. I'm glad I found it.

Hello there!

I like to welcome you on joining us here at the pacemaker club. I recieved my pacemaker at the age of 28 and it's been a ride of ups and downs. But, one thing I will say this site has giving me hope and warn welcomes. The people here are truly in a different understanding of what life is truly about. We stand as one family looking to help each other out in our times of need and times of sorrows. If you ever need to talk or ask anything personal feel free to write to anyone that you can relate to. You'll find there's at least one or two people who have gone through what your going through today. May you find joy and new hope in your life. I'm here as well as all of us, if you ever need to ask us anything. My friendship has been delivered to Meg. God bless you and take care of your heart.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
