Cell phones

Is there really an issue with a cell phone near the pacemaker. Just got my pacemaker yesterday so I'm looking for any information.

I reported on a current study in this message.

These where worse case tests and only 2 of 308 units showed any problem and even then only when operating is certain modes.

Not to worry

Yeah, as already indicated. Nothing seems to have any effect on mine. I've put my PM through all the tough tests and pretty much violated all the rules. Yet I haven't had any problems.

what is safe

Officially, some people are told to keep it on the other side or a minimum of 6" from their device. Practically, all of us use cell phones, most are like me and don't give a thought to which side we use it and have never had a problem. Newer pm's are very well shielded and there are virtually no home electronics or appliances that will affect it.

You know you're wired when...

Three months of free Internet comes with each device.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
